Fedora Repository 3.1 Release Notes

Fedora Repository 3 Documentation

Oct 24, 2008

Introduction

Fedora 3.1 is a minor feature release that includes several bug fixes. Most notably, when using Mulgara, SPARQL is now supported via the repository's RISearch interface, and the repository's memory footprint has improved significantly.

New Features and Enhancements

The following features and enhancements have been included in this release:

  • FCREPO-378: Support for SPARQL via RISearch Interface.
Add support for the W3C SPARQL standard for query of the Resource Index. This includes an update to Trippi to support SPARQL as a "tuples" query format.
  • FCREPO-377: Allow DSInputSpec binding to datastreams in other objects.
Currently, the datastream binding for disseminations is limited to datastreams in the object. DSInputSpec can be extended to support an optional PID attribute to allow for bindings to datastreams in other objects.
  • FCREPO-252: Old admin client forward compatibility.
The Administrator client application currently checks the server version and disallows log in if it's not in a list of "known compatible" versions. It should warn instead, since it is often the case that old versions of the client will work with newer versions of the server.

Bug Fixes

The following bugs have been fixed for this release:

  • FCREPO-227: Concurrent mod exception when sending many uploads to server.
  • FCREPO-235: Tomcat hangs on shutdown on Linux with GSearch.
  • FCREPO-237: Enabling journalling causes startup failure.
  • FCREPO-239: OutOfMemory Errors when modifying large objects.
  • FCREPO-374: Concurrency error in DOValidatorImpl.
